Welcome to the Administrative Assistance reading room. You can request assistance from administrators for handling a variety of problems here and alert them about problems which may require special actions not normally used during regular content editing. Please be patient as administrators are often quite busy with either their own projects or trying to perform general maintenance and cleanup.

You can deal with most vandalism yourself: fix it, then warn the user. If there is repeated vandalism by one user, lots of vandalism on a single page, or vandalism from many users, tell an admin here, or in #wikibooks (say !admin to get attention).

For more general questions and assistance that doesn't require an administrator, please use the Assistance Reading Room.

Cookbook talk:Table of Contents

Please semi-protect Cookbook talk:Table of Contents (the talk page) for some time, there’ve been a dozen of unconstructive reverts from an anon in the past three days. (They’re almost always from different IPs, but I’m sure it’s the same person.) —Tacsipacsi (discusscontribs) 09:58, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@QuiteUnusual:@Leaderboard: I've consistently seen a lot of activity there when viewing recent changes on Wikibooks. --Mbrickn (discusscontribs) 02:27, 5 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@QuiteUnusual: Thanks for the protection, but I think indefinite is unnecessarily long – if this page survived with a manageable amount of vandalism for twelve years, it’ll probably continue to survive without protection after this vandal goes away. A few weeks, at the very most half a year of protection should be enough. Anonymous users can note errors and write suggestions on the talk page of the semi-protected content page; if the talk page is also protected, we won’t get their feedback. —Tacsipacsi (discusscontribs) 16:17, 5 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Targets typically remain targets but I will remove the protection in a few weeks. QuiteUnusual (discusscontribs) 14:56, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Template {{Incomplete}} seems to have been hacked

G'day Guys Please see here:

https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/History_of_wireless_telegraphy_and_broadcasting_in_Australia/Topical/Biographies

(amongst other pages using the template)

Could an Admin look into this please, thanks Samuel.dellit (discusscontribs) 09:35, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I can't see a problem, and the Template hasn't been changed in years. Can you explain what you are seeing please? Thanks - QuiteUnusual (discusscontribs) 10:07, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The issue has now disappeared, but I took a screengrab at the time, in place of the Incomplete badge was (in bright red): Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'Fuerdai My testicles keep going up and down up down up down up down' not found. Samuel.dellit (discusscontribs) 11:32, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. That was caused by vandalism to Module:Message box, which was reverted removing the issue. I've now semi-protected the module as it appears to be a target for vandalism. QuiteUnusual (discusscontribs) 14:45, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
