Please do not ask us to run checks without good reason; be aware of the following before requesting a check:

  1. Checkuser is a last resort for difficult cases; pursue other options first, such as posting on the administrator's noticeboard.
  2. Running a check will only be done to combat disruption on Commons, or as required to assist checkuser investigations on other Wikimedia wikis.
    • Valid reasons for running a check include, for example: vandalism where a block of the underlying IP or IP range is needed and suspected block evasion, vote-stacking, or other disruption where technical evidence would prevent or reduce further disruption.
  3. Evidence is required. When you request a check, you must include a rationale that demonstrates (e.g., by including diffs) what the disruption to the project is, and why you believe the accounts are related.
    • Requests to run a check without evidence or with ambiguous reasoning will result in delays or the request not being investigated.
  4. The privacy policy does not allow us to make a check that has the effect of revealing IP addresses.
  5. Requests to run a check on yourself will be declined.

Responses will be brief in order to comply with Wikimedia privacy policy. Due to technical limitations, results are not always clear. Closed requests are archived after seven days.

Privacy concerns

If you feel that a checkuser request has led to a violation of the Wikimedia Foundation privacy policy regarding yourself, please refer the case to the Ombuds commission.

If this page is displaying outdated contents even after you refresh the page in your browser, please purge this page's cache.

To request a check:

Cases are created on subpages of Commons:Requests for checkuser/Case.

Creating a request
  • Insert the name of the suspected sockpuppeteer (the main account or puppetmaster, not the sockpuppet!) in the box below, leaving out the "User:" prefix. Do not remove the text in the box, add to the end only.
  • Please explain/justify the request by saying what it is you suspect and why it is important that the check be carried out. Indicate the usernames you suspect, using {{checkuser}}. Please do not use this template in the section header, as that makes it difficult to read the account names. Include the diffs or links required to support the request and reason for it.
  • There are people to assist you and help with maintenance of the page. Just ask for help on the admin noticeboard if you really are stuck, or take your best shot and note that you weren't completely sure of what to say.
  • If a case subpage already exists, edit the existing page instead, either adding to the currently open section (if the case is not yet archived) or adding a new section to the top using {{subst:Commons:Requests for checkuser/Inputbox/Sample}} (if the case has been archived). When editing an existing case, be sure to list/transclude the subpage here.
If you want to request a checkuser on User:John Doe, enter the text Commons:Requests for checkuser/Case/John Doe then click "Request a checkuser." You will be taken to a page where you can fill out the request. Please make your request there brief and concise.

Then transclude your subpage on the top of the list at Commons:Requests for checkuser and remove {{Checkuser requests to be listed}} from the top of the case subpage.

Suspected related users[edit]

Rationale, discussion and results[edit]

Reason: Əbazər is SPA whose only upload I have nominated for deletion (here). In response, has nominated a number of files that conflict with a Azerbaijani irredentist-nationalist view of the Caucasus/Middle East, copy-pasting the rationale I used (completely inappropriately). Then Əbazər logged back in again to oppose the deletion request I filed. It would be charitable to assume that the person behind these edits is a new user. Demir.Trx appears also to be an SPA with unusual opinions about Azeris and cartography. Both Əbazər and Demir.Trx (aside from creating fantasy maps of an Azerbaijani Lebensraum) also created user pages with a single character and made no other edits on Commons. Mahammad tt is also convinced that the Azeri lands can be expanded by uploading manipulated maps to Commons. Mahammad tt was blocked indefinitely for this kind of disruption, and though was later unblocked, have not made substantial edits since. The account Demir.Trx popped up immediately after Mahammad tt's block. GPinkerton (talk) 07:45, 20 September 2021 (UTC)

@GPinkerton: First of all, it is better to ping the names of others so that they are informed. Secondly, I have no connection with those users, except for that IP. Unfortunately, I did not notice yesterday and accidentally logged in with IP. But other than that IP I have no connection with any other account.--Əbazər (talk) 17:44, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
By the way, contrary to what you said, in my opinion, WikiCommens has unfortunately become a place for Kurdish territorial expansion, and unfortunately, due to its hostility to the Turks, no one here has anything to do with Pan-Kurdish users.--Əbazər (talk) 17:54, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
This SPA certainly knows a lot for an account with so few edits ... what are the names of your other accounts, if these aren't all of them? GPinkerton (talk) 17:47, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
@GPinkerton: I have no problem with user check. Let the inspectors do their job.--Əbazər (talk) 18:00, 20 September 2021 (UTC)

Wanda Tiga[edit]

Suspected related users[edit]

Rationale, discussion and results[edit]

Reason: In the view of this, WikiLoverFan1007 is probably a sock of Wanda Tiga. Seeing the time spent to revert all nonsense DRs for both accounts, it would be useful to block new socks before they do much damage. User talk:BFDIFan707 shows a weird history: out of scope MS Paint drawings DRed by WikiLoverFan1007 and IPs with the same language as the 2 other accounts above. Bad guys competition? Also similar names (Fan*07). Thanks, Yann (talk) 10:10, 19 September 2021 (UTC)

Have added Provaccfrwk, who has similar behaviour as those listed above. Bidgee (talk) 22:05, 19 September 2021 (UTC)
Also seeing some strange DR from Sonjangid55 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · edit filter log · block user · block log). Bidgee (talk) 07:02, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
@Yann: I noticed you entered Jurisdrew here, but in my opinion, Jurisdrew's behaviour is completely different from these accounts. I'd thought Provavvfrwk would be Jurisdrew but I didn't realise there was this CU case requested. I don't see that these accounts have any x-wiki issues, but Jurisdrew goes onto almost every language Wikipedia and vandalises flag related pages (particularly known target wikis are the Korean, Yoruba, and Nauru Wikipedias), and I don't see any "scobedos" edit summaries (examples of vandalism include this to my userpage). Perhaps have a look at this page. SHB2000 (talk) 23:59, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
@SHB2000: Yes, I added Jurisdrew because you mentioned this account. I don't have any other clue. Seeing the large amount of useless DRs, it would be useful to find to which accounts this vandal is related. Regards, Yann (talk) 07:47, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
yeah no harm done in doing one for him too. But given Jurisdrew's been globally locked for about 4.5 months now, not sure whether a CU can be done for that. SHB2000 (talk) 07:50, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
I believe information that CUs can use is up to 6 months, anything older is unavailable. You can also use contributions for behavioural based CU to see if there is anything the might be similar or the same. Bidgee (talk) 11:58, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
That's great, because I'd want more info on Jurisdrew. Given what I've seen, Jurisdrew is largely different from these sets of other socks. Although he has started DR's, those are all flag related and are mostly based on fictional flags, not real flags. Although in 4.5 months, there's about 50 socks of him (not all of them are registered on Commons). SHB2000 (talk) 13:18, 21 September 2021 (UTC)

Suspected related users[edit]

Rationale, discussion and results[edit]

Reason: All three of them have requested renaming of File:3d model of thiotepa molecule with calculated molecular electrostatic potential surface.png per criterion 1 (requested by the uploader) despite not being the original uploader. Also, Mohinhphantu and Congthuchoahoc inserted user=Hoahocphantu in the {{Rename}} template.

Stefan2 (talk) 08:56, 15 September 2021 (UTC)

This sock-drawer has been an ongoing problem for months, often several socks a day. A steward recommended that commons CUs investigate whether there are any underlying IPs or ranges that can be given longer-term blocks. DMacks (talk) 16:00, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
